Partaking in an affiliate program is one of the best ways for webmasters to make money with their websites. It's a revenue-sharing program where the webmaster earns part of the profit made as a result of the traffic, leads or sales that he or she delivers to a merchant website. In other words, you as the webmaster send your traffic to a merchant site through an affiliate link. Any sales resulting from your referred visitors are kept track of and at the end of each month you get a certain percentage of the overall revenue generated by your referred traffic. The percentage payouts vary as do the types of programs and payment arrangements.

There are no limits to the type of affiliate program and payment arrangement that a company can set up; what kind of program benefits them the most depends on the type of service or product they provide.
