Broken Link Checkers

Link up all of your pages properly is one of the most important steps of building a website. There are two main reasons for it: you want your users to see the pages they have requested and you also want to make sure that all of your pages get indexed in search engines properly. This is not so much a problem when you're manually submitting every single page to a search engine, but what if the pages to be indexed are collected by a spider? Broken links can be a big problem and can prevent your content from being indexed in search engines such as Google, which accounts for a large portion of search traffic.

There are a number of different broken link tools that you can use; some will cost you and some will not. All of the one that I have provided on this page are free of charge so enjoy.

Broken Link Checker
Identify broken links in your site. You may enter the URL of the web page with query string. The broken link checker will search your site, testing each link it finds and report the status of each link. Use it for free!

Dead-Links.com
Enter your website or weblog home page URL in the input box and the spider will read the html code and check for the broken links. The way the spider work is it splits links in two categories: internal, from the same host, and external, outgoing link to different domains. Once you have entered the start URL, the bot will follow every link checking for their status. When finished, you will see a report.

Link Check
LinkCheck provides a fast and "visual" means of checking the links on your pages. Status icons are displayed to the left of each link as it occurs on a page. When used in "Check-n-Browse" mode, clicking a link will dig even deeper, checking the links on the subsequent pages.

StickySauce Link Check
This tool will test the following type of links: internal, external, Maito, frame, FTP, http, and JavaScript link.
