Sell Advertising Space
One way to make money with your site is to sell advertising space. This should be considered in the early design stages to assure that the ads are placed in areas on the site that will give you the best conversions. The design of the site should allow for the ads to get the most exposure, which might involve things such as making other graphics smaller and less attention grabbing.
Your site's earning potential is determined by the amount of traffic your site receives as well as how effective your advertising methods are. Keeping a strong relation between your sites and the advertisements in terms of topic is one of the major factors that will influence the overall performance of banners on your site. If you're advertising electronics equipment on a gambling site, don't expect a big profit. In order to maximize your profits, you must be able to recognize what effective selling is and how to incorporate it onto your work to create a profitable website.
You can sell advertising space to your customers in different packages and sometimes you will be offered a deal by a merchant. Being flexible can pay off big and supply your with return customers. Of course, that is also dependant on the quality of service that you gave them. Sure, sometimes you can scheme and fool advertisers into believing that they are getting a good deal, but once they analyze the numbers, you may end up with nothing else but a bad reputation and that's something you don't want to give yourself.
Pay Per Impression
With this deal, you get paid for every banner impression or the number of times the banner has been displayed. Usually, the payment is calculated based on the number of 1000 banner impressions - CPM (where the M is the Latin numeral representing a thousand). So, in a $10 CMP deal you will get paid $10 for every 1000 banner impression. Naturally, this is only a good deal for a site that gets a lot of traffic.
Pay Per Click
This is pretty self-explanatory; you get paid every time a visitor clicks on a banner. This is where targeted advertising comes into play as you want as many of your users to click the banners as possible. Remember that while the payment rates may seem attractive, this is one of the lowest converting payment schemes.
Pay Per Sale / Lead
The payments rates are excellent for this type of deal, mainly due to the high difficulty in achieving it. In order for you to get paid, your visitors must click on the banner and either purchase something or fill out a from on the merchant site. If you're paid per sale, the customer has to purchase more than a set minimum for you to get paid.
Keeping your customers happy is essential if you are to continue selling advertising space successfully. While the performance of your site is a huge factor in determining how much you can charge to merchants to advertise on your site, be reasonable both to yourself and the advertiser.
